Welcome to Billingford Lakes & Country Park – Nature Walks start from the Lakeside Café we have three guided Nature Walks ranging in distance across our 150-acre site which surrounds our tranquil lakes, incorporates beautiful wildlife and includes lots of fun activities.

Nature Walks

With stunning viewpoints, wood carvings, wildlife hides, activities and play areas all on route our Nature Walks create the perfect day out for all ages. The walks do include slight inclines and are natural tracks but have no physical barriers such as stiles, making them suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and other mobility aids (depending on the weather conditions).

When you arrive, you must park in the main car park and head to the Lakeside Café (catering vehicle) open Monday-Friday 9am-3pm and weekends 9am-4pm to purchase your ticket/s via cash or card. You are welcome outside of these hours but put your money in the honesty box or pay the site bailiff. You will receive a map, wristband, gate code and an activity sheet for the little ones.Ticket/s provide you with unlimited access to all our walks that same day. Toilets are also on-site.

This 2.5k trail leads you through the woodland, past hides which is a perfect stop for some wildlife spotting. It is a short, mainly flat route making it suitable for all the family to enjoy.

There are information boards throughout which tell you all about the wildlife at Billingford and we have lots of fun and interesting natural man-made activities zones to explore along the way too.

Take the Discovery Trail to:

  • Explore nature and wildlife
  • Discover stick tents
  • Play on the tyre and pipe playground
  • Climb the climbing wall
  • Visit the wildlife hides
  • Swing away on the bird’s nest swing
  • Spot the wood carvings
  • Enjoy pond dipping (coming soon)

We will also be offering a range of family friendly activities such as Easter egg, Halloween and bug hunts soon!

WensumWay

Flowing through our site is a one mile stretch of the River Wensum, this 3.2k walk will take you along this picturesque river as well as other breath-taking views across our fishing lakes. We have plenty of benches along the way for you to sit, watch and take in the tranquil surroundings.

You will be able to expand your wildlife knowledge with our information boards and discover the wildlife for real in our hides on this walk.

RomanRamble

This 4.7k circular walk is our longest and will take you around the whole site, over the River Wensum to our Cygnet lake and back over and down the River Wensum. It is great for exploring the quieter areas of our site.

Billingford Lakes & Country Park is occupied by a Roman settlement and although the settlement can no longer be seen, it was excavated in the 1990s ahead of the site gravel extraction. This walk provides the history of a remarkable Roman parade helmet which was dredged very close to Billingford Roman town.
